Campo de Gibraltar is a Spanish comarca belonging to the province of Cadiz, located in the extreme south of Andalusia. It gets its name from the rock of Gibraltar, and is the southernmost territory of the Iberian Peninsula and, therefore, of the continental of Europe.
Municipalities that compose it are seven: Algeciras, Los Barrios, La línea de la Concepción and San Roque, all of them located in the arch that forms the Bay of Algeciras, in addition to rate, mainly oriented towards the Atlantic Ocean, and Castellar de la Frontera and Jimena de la Frontera, both in the interior of the region. It is one of the regions with more identity of Andalusia.
In terms of fauna it emphasizes especially the birds that pass through the Strait of Gibraltar during their annual migrations. The local fauna is especially rich in birds because of the diversity of habitats as well as large mammals, mainly deer, roe deer and wild boar.
On the coast abound in large quantity and number of species are found the cetaceans (sperm whales, minke whales, orcas) and dolphins, especially in areas close to the coast of Tarifa-Algeciras.
The three climate areas within the territory that occupies the region differ. The area East and Southeast has a subtropical Mediterranean climate; the Southwest while has an oceanic climate while the rest of the area has a continental Mediterranean climate.
Gastronomy: Fish in all its variants, boiled, fried, grilled, grilled or even soup, highlight seafood, of high quality, especially crabs, shrimp or legs, noodles with clams, abaja, and grouper in yellow. With respect to the sweets, it emphasizes to the real soft biscuit dough.
Traditions: Creations with Cork, leather, basketry and ceramics.
